I ride with syntace clip-ons with road bars as my Tri setup. I always ride on the clip-ons and if I need to brake, I keep one arm on the rests and brake with the other. I thought it would be good to mount my brakes on the clip-ons as I could brake and shift in the position. I can’t see where this is an equipment violation, but could it be considered a safety violation? In my mind it seems like good deal, but…
I assume you’re using bar end shifters? Where would you mount the brakes? I think having your weight that far forward if you needed to brake hard might be a little risky.
yeah, it’ll work, I’ve seen guys with profile aero levers on thier bar ends, but if you need to stop fast or brake while turning, all your weight on the aerobars is going to be trouble… I’d stick with the one handed braking on the regular setup. Guess you could run some cyclocross brake adapters to get two sets of levers if you’re really hard up.
It is possible, I mounted aero brakes upside down on the clipons so the cable route worked. Braking seemed a little mushy, but it worked. I didn’t have a choice as I had a set of the aero or die bars. It was awful nice braking in the aero position though

I thought this was kind of a neat setup (in the Tour, no less). Check out Bobby J’s right extension. It looks like a Visiontech "Tyler " lever.
