Colorado Cyclist is trying to sell Obermayer wheelsets for $3699.99 for the “standard” and $5499.99 for the “lightweight”! I know that triathletes and bicyclists like to spend money, but geez, there has got to be a limit, doesn’t there? Or am I just too stupid to realize how much speed these wheels would give me? Comments?
Not actaully marketed to triathletes. 3500 is the going rate for handbuilt, superlightweight, invincible wheels.
Nobody makes anything that even comes close to those in just about any field. It’s a freaking ferrarii.
A P3C is Ferrari, Lightweights are a Ferrari Enzo.

I’ve picked up a Lightweight front wheel once. I could have sworn that the same wheel made of cardboard would be heavier. Pretty amazing stuff.

They used to be the absolute lightest wheel available but not any more… for example a Reynolds Stratus DV UL is lighter and tests about the same in the wind tunnel, i.e. not as good as Zipp or HED’s best wheels…

I dunno anyone ever look at the paneling (including under the car) of the Ferrari Enzo… all carbon all the time and with tons of curves and channels
I have held, and ridden, a set of the Obermayer model that a friend has. Even as a pro, he was a little hesitant to ride them at first, they are so very light. I am simply not fast enough to justify a set, I would get laughed out of every race. I simply cant imagine any age agrouper riding a set.

Z car? Slow over weight crap; with a typical engine the same as all the other cars? (same 3.5 as the Minivan has, Altima, Maxima, trucks…and on and on…)
