I just got one of the Travel Zoo emails and since I was planning a trip next month, I thought I would take a look and see what they had. This one popped up for Hawaii and though I am not going this year, this might be looking into for anybody that is. I am not spending that much time on here or in triathlon for the next month, but I wanted to throw this out for anyone that is planning on going to Kona.
Get off your butt, pack your new P3C, grab your g.friend and Go. One of the hotels is on Alii Drive (mile marker 5) while the other is north of the airport. It’s a good deal if you can get yourself to LAX and can stay on the days surrounding the race. See you there (with or without a Kona spot). - Turq
right now that looks pretty good as airfare is pretty pricey… you can get in there for around $300 min from LA area during off season and assuming double occupancy that works out to around $120 a night for the room which isn’t bad but not super duper amazing. Nicer hotels are quite a bit more down there though, Waikaloa (down the road 30min from Kona towards Hawi) run $225 or so a night. Seems like a good deal to me though. Don’t know where that hotel is but Outrigger hotels are usually pretty nice.
