Is there any point to the TTT if you're not doing Ironman?

Obviously it makes a ton of sense if you are but what if you are focusing on olympics with a half ironman thrown in?

Fun, perhaps
.

Yes. It’s a competitive event. HFP may feel a need to market it as a training weekend for Ironman, but the event stands on its own.

what is the TTT?

what is the HFP?

If you think about it, there’s not much point to any of this…

How about “it’s the best bang for the buck”. You get 4 triathlons in ONE weekend. Sweet!

I would think that most people who do TTT are in it more for the fun of the event rather than specific IM prep.

Why is everything always about Ironman? Is there any point to a 5k run of 15K ITT? Different events stand on their own merit…go for the TTT for the sake of TTT.

I was more tired after the TTT than any of the Ironmans I have done. But it was the most fun I have ever had racing. So much fun I am going back this year, it is just a blast and I love the small race feel.

Because. The amount of pain and fun involved over the course of the weekend is just retarded.

I’m doing it for the experience, although it’s a bonus that it doubles as a heavy volume weekend for IM.

sorry, i should have clarified. My goal is to get faster. So for any coaches out there focusing on olympic distance, what do you think? Would it help, hurt, or not make a difference?

I have done the event and loved it but my main goal now is to get faster at olympic.

Thanks guys,

Absolutely, the legend of the PT with new bearings and axle will climbs those hills for the third straight year, the second under my guidance
;-)…I will rock crazy sunnies and be happy that I am alive and of sound mind. There will be pain and suffering but it is the sweetest of all when it is self imposed in a little skid bomb part of the world where only a handful of people understand how great it feels inside to rise again on Sunday to battle the Little Smokies.

I can’t wait
Andrew

hey bro, is that wheel still treating you right?

Just got it back…replaced the bearings and a new axle $150 total.

The bearing should have been done before Muskoka 70.3 last year but there wasn’t time…a big difference in spin now…it was like a bucket of gravel in that axle.

Without that PT my TTT and IMLP experience last year would not have been so awesome. Are you still in Germany?
Andrew

Looks fun.

One of the local coaches does a “training day” out at Boerne Lake every year, usually in mid-March. No fee, no support, no schedule per se, other than guesstimated start times for each of the legs. This year’s event will be on March 14th.
swim: 9:00 AM (~1-mile out & back course; no buoys)
bike: 10:00 AM (25-mile loop; do one or two)run: 2:00 PM (5-mile loop; do one or two)This’ll be my third year doing the camp, the first two just for giggles. The first one also introduced me to my fiancee. =)

Great! Still in Berlin but moving back to Detroit in June. Maybe I’ll see you at some of the ontario races next year or the TTT.

Keep it rolling!

There is no Ironman within years of my current schedule…past, present or future…

But TTT is right there. TTT is its own beast. And I’m looking WAY forward to being at the start line this year.

I’ve never done the event but I listen to the epic tales from our customers who come back from the event. It is a one-of-a-kind that I am aware of. That itself is reason to do it at least once. It sounds like a lot of fun- and pretty darn hard too.
