Is there a new Garmin watch style coming out soon?

I’ve seen the Forerunner 305 on sale all over the internet and it has me wondering if I should quick sell mine before a new model comes out. Does anyone know if there is anything shortly on the way as far as a new model is concerned? Thanks all.

I upgraded from my 201 to a 305 back in the winter when they were on sale for $200 after the rebate. I kind of guessed the same thing, but for now, there hasnt been a new model issued. Maybe later in the summer or early fall when marathon season starts. Even if they did come out with a new one, how much better could it be?

-Battery technology hasnt really improved since the 305 came out, so it cant get much smaller without losing run time on the unit
-The GPS could get better, but the 305 is already pretty darn good

The only good upgrade that I could see would be a housing that was waterproof for swimming. I would imagine that they have been working on that since they got all of the repair returns when the first one was sold as “water resistant” and people destroyed them swimming. However, even if you could swim with it, I think that it is a bit too large to race with on my wrist comfortably, although the data would be great to have.

I’d love to see one with actual street maps.

The answer is yes, a new model is coming out this Fall (Look for a launch around the NYC marathon or a bit sooner) and from what I have been told (By a Garmin rep) it’ll have better battery life, screen resolution, and perhaps be a bit less bulky. In addition, there is hope that they can eliminate the signal drop caused by antenna strength.
