I’ve become rather muscular in training for sprint and oly races. Now that I’ve committed to an IM, it would be nice to lose alot of this muscle mass for the Lake Placid course. I’m at a disadvantage on hills with my current build - it’s like rolling a cannonball uphill.
Should I expect to lose alot of mass just by the increased volume/proportion of the ower intensity training in preparing for the IM? Anybody see a difference in build for the two extremes in race distances?
I understand that careful dieting without sacrificing power:weight ratio is an option, but I’m not sure if the desired change will just occur naturally.
