Seriously reading the Lavender room is worse then watching the local nightly news…I cannot believe the amount of crying and “the sky is falling” rhetoric… What has happened to you personally which makes you feel this way??
i think every this is fine,we are in a financial cycle just like we are in a climate cycle…everything will be fine…
Thank you! I agree…
Oh, and Lance is back…What could be wrong?
Nope. It isn’t that bad. I’ve lost my job so I’ve been personally affected but I’m pretty Zen about the whole thing. I’ve lost a lot of sleep over the years about money but not now. Something always comes through.
Maybe things are bad. Maybe we spent like idiots. Maybe we can’t afford our houses. Maybe the government bailing everyone out isn’t going to work because the government doesn’t have the money to do it.
Just because something is negative doesn’t mean it’s false.
Doesn’t mean it’s true either. If you take a single thing you read as factual on a triathlon message board called the lavender room then you deserve what you get. These people ride bikes, swim, and run.
I’ve quit reading anything here except dog threads. Clicked on this one by mistake.
Let’s look at facts not dealing with triathlons. High unemployment, major banks receiving money from the government we don’t have, car companies receiving huge payment from the government we don’t have, people getting mortgages they can’t afford, a large part of our national debt owed to foreign governments.
We all might want to be zen and hope for the change that matters but there is no evidence that things are swell.

Not everyone in the Lavender Room swims, bikes, & runs.

mr. tibbs is the man - not just because he’s right 99% of the time, but because he’ll hit you upside the head with his codpiece if it’s warranted.
I agree with you. Things are definitely bad. But, I’m so happy that I’m able to almost completely ignore the bad things that I can’t change. Because of this, my life is almost stress-free.

Some I guess are spelling teachers.
“Some I guess are spelling teachers.”
Typo.
What has happened to you personally which makes you feel this way?
Let’s see.
-
I have one customer that has laid off 10% of it’s union labor and then asked salaried labor to take a 10% pay cut…then followed up by asking the salaried labor to work 47 rather than 40 hours to make up for the lost labor force. At the same time they cut a PO in half that we already had.
-
I spent around 2 months working on a proposal for another customer, not straight but on and off. Two meetings at their facility the last one included 5 people and their direct boss. When we turned in the quote there was no response. When we called the main individual we were working with was no longer there. After some research everyone in the last meeting and everyone we had contact with at the facility had been laid off. Project dead.
-
Another customer cut a project in half we had quoted. Then I sent an E-mail to the buyer I got a response from his boss. He’d been laid off as well as the other project manager…project dead.
-
Sent parts out for plating, usually 1-2 day turn around, most I’ve ever waited from this vendor in 10 years was 3 days. Ended up being a 10 day turn around because the vendor didn’t have enough work to warrant turning on the pots.
-
Another vendor laid off 75% of his staff.
-
Another vendor laid off 30% of his staff
-
My retirement accounts are at the lowest value they’ve been in god knows how long.
-
Probably several more that I’ve not included.
And all this shiztnitz has happened in the last 3 months.

If you ask Rush nd the republican party, then everything was great until Obama took over and for the first time in 8 years started spending money we don’t have, plus he invented something called “earmarks”. Something republicans have never heard of.
Besides the fact that I’ve lost all the equity in my real estate and investments, and I’ve had to lay off 8 persons since January 1 because business is not growing, everything is great.

I live and breath this shit every day and I have had it. There is no leadership and no confidence in the markets. And yes, based on the data and what real companies are saying it is as bad as the LR makes it out to be.

you know the OP didnt fucking ask for Rush’s opinion, so why try and interject it in here? Pubs do the same thing at times but jesus christ this is why this board is so god damn annoying…and the news overall for that matter
Anyway, I personally haven’t been affected very much. I have 2 part time jobs, 1 in retail and 1 in service industries. I’m in graduate school and my student loans haven’t been lowered. I dont have a retirement account or money in the markets, so I haven’t lost anything there. I haven’t gone to attempt to buy a car or a house, so that hasn’t affected me. The only thing is the cost of goods has increased a little bit, so thats the only thing thats impacted my life.
I’m a conservative in CA and in real estate so what do you think?
Nah. Don’t worry.
You can put your CA Tax Refund IOU towards paying the extra tax from the phased-out mortgage deduction…oh, and…charitable contributions deduction…um, and…“Cap and Trade” Energy Tax.
Everything will equal out in the end…Until BO goes after limiting capital loss deductions. (You heard it here first.)
At least there are no proposals to tax stock trading too so that at least the market can operate with minimum friction.

Dude, that is a trifecta of bad news.
