He doesn’t own a car, rides everywhere, even gets a tandem when he starts dating.
“Mr. schwin fucking armstrong”!

i love the pants leg tucked in. LOL!
Very funny movie. I liked the fact that he always was wearing his helmet
too bad his series ‘The Office’ Blows… Besides the bbc version is way better than the stupid NBC version.
British humor doesn’t seem to translate well over here. Remember the disastrous “Coupling” show? The BBC’s original version was hysterical. The U.S. version was just awful. Hopefully, NBC learns its lesson after two miserable failures.
have you seen the british office??
Oh yeah. That was a classic. I still have the special (where they came back after a year to do the followup) on my Tivo.
haha ya it’s great. I really liked the christmas special!!
haha and also david brandt’s music video and date with that one girl…
Girl “Well that was fun… should we do it again??”
David “Wouldn’t have thought so…”
haha cheers
Although I agree the British version QUITE a bit better, the American version is hysterical. He does a great job acting as the idiot boss. Did you see the episode where he had cultural diversity training. Holy cow I busted a gut.
And the one where they played basketball in the loading dock was good too.
M~
I think the American version is good when they don’t copy the same episodes/jokes from the British version. I too think the basketball episode was hilarious.
The funniest part about that one was the old guy hitting shot after shot after the game was over.
That was impressive. How about when he told the lady that cheerleading would be worse than her playing. That was so bad…
He really does an excelent job of paying homage to the original. The secondary characters aren’t too shabby either.
you guys have hijacked my thread!
also, the guy stealing the ball from his own team (it’s the only episode I’ve seen, and I haven’t seen the BBC original).
“when the moon is in the 7th house…”

Perhaps true in recent history, but it has worked in the past. Both All in the Family and Three’s Company were based on British TV shows and became two of the most popular American sitcoms of the 70’s.
bit of a SPOILER
As for the original question, I thought 40 YO Virgin was hilarious, but didn’t think it was a great cycling movie. His cycling was as much an object of (gentle) ridicule as his figurine collection. The bike did have some funny scenes. When he was riding to work and made the right turn signal and cut across four lanes of traffic, I nearly pissed my pants laughing.
Well… I didn’t know that.
But, being “based” on a british show and trying to virtually copy the show are two different things. “Coupling” tried to do the exact episodes from the British version, and it failed miserably.
it doesn’t help when the actors suck.
