…considering that the 2007 tour is occuring under a much higher level of scrutiny and drug testing rigor than the 1998 tour.
Yes, its much worse. Its comical
Worse for now, but better in the long run. It’s beginning to look like instead of there being a 1 in 10 chance of getting caught, it’s more like 1 in 5. I truly believe riders will be less likely to dope in the future. Call me naive.
And, insincere and farcical that it may be, riders in 2007 are protesting in support of a drug-free tour whereas in 1998 were protesting in protest of the drug controls.
The real drug-free Tour de France already happened. Here: www.letour2007.com If this keeps up I’m expecting a call from ASO soon that I win the real yellow jersey (and podium girls I hope)
Yes. This is an abomination.
yes, it was just the french then ![]()
this tour is going to end up being won by someone who wasn’t even in the running, kinda like me winning a tri
.
you think??
with rasmussen out, vino, kloden and the rest of astana gone…all pulled mid-race and in between critical stages, the final results of this tour will be a joke.
At least if they had been pulled prior to the start, their presence would have not effected the way the race played out on the roads. Now, there really is no way to know who was the strongest rider.
I used to love watching the Tour and now I just feel robbed.
Not yet.
Well, is that better than learning who the strongest doped rider is?
No, it is not worse than the Festina affair, I believe this is a good thing. I believe that the tide is turning and many, many riders, will be removed from cycling over the next couple of years. But wit that being said, I would much rather see this than those who are in authority turning a blind eye as they have done for years. The next couple of years are going to be painful for cycling as the “Old Boys” are eliminated and are replaced by a new group of riders and sponsors. As this happens it will be a chance for the sport to remake itself into something much cleaner.
I hope.
my point is that, the presence of riders like Vino, Ras, etc, impact the strategies of teams and how they react to attacks, breakaways, etc.
It would have been better if they were pulled prior to the start.
2007 is worse than 1998, as was 1996, but 2006 was the worst of all.
I still won’t buy a Festina watch because of the 98 scandal. The brand name reminds me of cheating.
It’s the worst one for me, last year was pretty bad too…But maybe it is just the latest one is always the the worst, like bad races you have. The farther they get into the past, the less they affect you, and you have lots of other bad races to focus on…I see at Ironmans at the finish, where the first words are “I’m never doing this fu&^%$# thing again”", and 24 hours later they are in line signing up for next years…What’s the old saying, time heals all wounds, I hope so…

If it wasn’t for that human trait, nobody would ever have more than one child…![]()
