Is the 10spd front der cage more narrow than the 9 spd?

Pretty simple question, I think, but who knows. I think I was sold the 10spd der for my 9spd setup and that might be the reason that I only get a couple of shifts in either direction before the chain starts rubbing the front der. That’d only make sense if the 10spd der cage is actually narrower than the 9spd cage. Sort of would make sense since the chains is more narrow, too.

I was moving my 9 speed set from the old bike to new, and needed a braze on rather than the clamp on I had, thus the reason for the new front der.

Yes. I switched from a 105 9 spd to an Ultegra 10 spd on my tri bike and it is slightly narrower.

Thank you. That would do it. Easy fix.

That was it. The 10spd cage is about 2/3 the size of the 9spd cage. Swapped them out, no more problem.
