Is the 100 day run challenge cooking me?

Sorry for the cross post…I also buried this in the huge 100 day run thread.

I’ve been doing the 100 day challenge on pretty much the same running routes since Sept 15 2008 and wearing my Garmin 305 with HR strap most of the time. I took a month off thru Nov.

Some interesting results. My running pace seems to be getting down to where is was post IMC in October but HR is lower. There are a few spikes where I ran with my wife. I think I’m just too fatigued to really open up the intensity. This week is likely to hit 90-95km. I can’t imagine averaging 165 bpm on a run right now…maybe I’m getting too fatigued running?

Here’s some graphs showing my runs since Sep 2008 with pace and HR. Distance by week since mid Sept and intensity/stress since the same time. Thoughts? Am I cooking myself or getting in better shape? I’m used to rest days!

Thanks.

To start with, your graphs are pretty cool, I especially like the one that correlates pace with distance. I would offer that you were originally running too hard, with the 165 HR, and the expanded volume combined with the over effort is indeed cooking you. I like the Mark Allen formula, of 185-age +/- beats dependent on fitness history. It makes it hard to go too hard on the days you are not trying to go to hard.

The good news, is that if you are not injuring yourself, when you start your rest cycle the volume should pay dividends over the following weeks to months, which I think is the point of the 100/100.

Thanks…the graphs are from WKO+.
