When I pulled my spare off my rim the base tape seperated from the tire (in a few places). Is the tire junk or can I fix it. And if so… how?
thanks

I think you can reglue the base tape back to the tire. I’ve done this before. Haven’t used the spare which I reglued but have glued them back together. It’s just a spare to get you home!
thanks. the spare was an old tire that I peeled off another wheel.
As you can see in the pics there’s some threads that have stuck to the wheel? Is is safe to just glue over those?
I know it’s probably a stupid question, but I don’t want to take any chances.
thanks again
get some latex emulsion (also know as rubber cement) and re-glue it. that is what the manufacturer uses to attach it in the first place.

You can repair the tire with rubber cement as suggested. I would clean that thread debris off the rim before regluing.
argggh… I knew you were going to say that.
Do I need to strip all the glue and start fresh or just get rid of the threads. Any suggestions on how to clean it off?
I use mineral spirits to clean aluminum rims. Some people use acetone. I don’t know if either is OK for those carbon rims. I am sure that you can google that answer or search this forum, or contact Zipp directly.
You were going to have to clean the old glue off eventually, so might as well learn now.
