Jonas Colting (SWE), 5:43:16 (49:47, 3:01:30, 1:48:04)
Colting had the second fastest run of the day, within 33 seconds of Zemtsev and almost a 3 minute faster swim than Zemtsev but came in 4th, over 1:30 back.
Victor won it on the bike. If Coulting had a little better bike he would have won it on the swim.
Close race. Looks like he won it on the bike and run - more gain on the run if I can add this afternoon. Does the bike have transition spilts? Maybe he had faster transitions as well.
Jonas got a weird penalty for drafting a lapped(!) competitor on the bike course after a sharp turn so he had to run a penalty lap before getting out on the run. I’m sure the race would have been different otherwise.
If you just add up the splits the guy in third should have won and the gaps are all wrong. 3rd Place looks like he could have won if he speeded up his transititons 30-40 seconds to match Zemtsev’s.
If Triathlons are gonna allow drafting on the bike then the order should be changed to Swim, Run, Bike … just put everyone on road bikes and have a proper race to the finish. It also works in an ‘evolution of man’ way too, (well it does in my mind anyway).
