Is it easy to run a sub 3 marathon.... at 74? (links)

Ever heard of Ed Whitlock? He routinely lays down sub 3’s and 18-19 min 5k’s. Amazing.

Ed is very famous within marathon community (see www.marathonguide.com).

He took the world record for 70-74 from John Keston who is a British guy living in Oregon.

I had the priviledge to stay at John’s house after the Portland Marathon (1998?). At that time John was upset because he couldn’t break 3h00 (he has done 3h00’50 " at age 71).

He broke his hip the same year mountain biking but is still running.

Did a 3h22 in 2001 (75-79) and did a 3h51 this year in the 80-84 division.

He started running in his 50s.

Good inspiration for all of us. I wish I will be running when I am 80.
