Is Illinois gov about to shut down?

we are very concerned that our state is about to shut down. Mrs SD works for the state. as crazy as our present governor is, he is likely to force a govt shutdown. we have been hording cash and are ready to miss a check or 2. so we should be ok.

anyone else worried??

Are they going to go so far as to not pat anyone? If memory serves when the Fed shut down in 94-96 or whenever nothing changed really. I thought I heard one of the leaders, majority house or senate, state that they had “emergency funding” and some other options passed already. Not sure if this was to cover your wifes check or not though.

On my own greedy, anti government side, and keeping in mind your suffering of course, it wouldn’t bother me much. My opinion for quite some time is that the less government does the better off I’ll be. Government shutdown is near Utopian.

When it does shut down the employees that are going to get the short end of the stick should be sure that G-Rod is in Springfield when it happens so that he can’t take his private charter back to Chicago for the evening and actually has to spend the night in the Governors mansion for once.

I am not a big fan of govt either. in fact I would rather she not work for the govt. but the benefits are good and she seems to think she is helping people.

when the Illinois govt shuts down there will be no sympathy for govt employees. that much I can guarantee you. but remember, these people work an 8 hour day just the same and they (we) have a mortgage payment and bills.

if Illinois shuts down there will be no “emergency funding” to pay our bills.

You’re funny…you think government shut down means that the politicians get shut down…funny guy. That’s kinda like believing if we had socialized medicine in this country the politicians would be forced to use the same system…oh my god that’s classic. In reality this means Governor Blagoavich’s spending will go thru the roof because of all the emergency sessions and back and forth travel he’ll need to endure…for the people.

My wife works for the government as well but I believe their budget does not coincide with the state government. They get annual grants etc. Not sure exactly how they work. None the less she’s not mentioned no check, maybe she has a surprise for me.

Either way at this point, screw it, nuke the government my wife can get a job elsewhere even if we have to downgrade on some things. Of course that’s not what’s going to happen. What will happen is some fictitious shutdown that in the end will end up costing more than if there was no shutdown at all.

The devil promised Rod he’d never have to stay in Springfield.

Rod promished the devil that he’d run the state straight to … well, you know where. =)

49 to go and we will be free!

49 to go and we will be free!

didn’t you mean 48?

Pennsylvania is already shut down. except the difference between Pen and ILL is they are not in debt to their eyeballs like ILL.
