I usually like to visit my parents on the Big Island, but not this year. Going to head up the coast to my in-laws for a lot of cold water surfing and some running and riding of course. I’m out of school for three and a half weeks so I’m stoked!
Our family is going to Vail for the week.
I’m out of school as well, but not going anywhere exciting. It is enough just to be home

My sister’s ranch… not having to cook or clean up after myself or the kids is the “fun” part, I guess 
with the stress and additional burdens of the Holidays the only place I want to go is into the desert with a 44 mag and one bullet. I hate the holidays.

Leaving for SF tomorrow. Mom will be back in the US for the first time in ten years with my adopted 8 y/o bro. Not entirely sure what we’ll be doing in the Bay Area but I’m sure it’ll involve lots of food and hopefully no shopping.

Where do you skate ski? Down by Howlsen? I haven’t XC’d in years. I usually try to go for a snowshoe run in the AM before hitting the slopes on my snowboard.
Great…they are evolving everyday…here’s teh list so far…and he’s loving all of them…
- Home made pear butter and a loaf of ciniamin chip bread
- Two dog toys (a turtle and a dove…they were really a crocodile and a duck, but his dog doesn’t know the song!)…he was a bit bummed the gifts weren’t for him though!
- Three French Wines (A red, a white and a bottle of pink bubbly)
- Four miles of Kayaking as my swim escort for a long distance open water swim…well, the course he took me on was actually over 5 miles…he was jokingly a little ‘bitter’ about this gift…but then I gave him a Life is Good tee shirt with a kayaker on it when we got home from the race.
- Shall remain a secret between he and I
- Six Pez dispensers (he collects them)
- Seven bottles of Black Swan wine (not great wine, but they’ll make a great base for the Gluwein we are taking to a Christmas Eve Party and serving at our NYE party)
- Eight miles of running (I signed him up for an 8 mile run this February)…he told me he wanted to do this race with me
- Nine holes of putt putt (tonight)
- Pedicure
- A movie and a related bottle of wine (it will be the 11th bottle of wine he gets from me for this)
- An iPod loaded with the song the 12 days of Christmas.
I had tons of other ideas, but actually getting everything to Hawaii in time for the day they were to be given wasn’t working out…I’m a HUGE procrastinator…
All his friends are jealous of all the gifts he’s getting and he’s really nervous about what to get me it’s been fun!
I’m up in Mammoth Lakes, CA. If anyone is looking for a training buddy up here, let me know! I have my mtn bike with road tires on it up here, so I won’t be fast… I’d also be up for some swimming or running, but DAMN it’s cold up here

I just did a fantastic nordic ski clinic in Steamboat last weekend at 2 nordic centers, Catamount and the Steamboat Nordic Center (golf course in town near the ski mountain). I have yet to get over to Howelson Hill or the big mountain. I actually have a few 2-day passes to the mountain from some luck at the 5430 sports triathlons, so I may do a bit of downhill 1 or both days. I’m no snowboarder though. My favorite thing is to ski downhill in the am and then skate in the afternoon…that way I have more guts on the downhills ; ).
