Is a 650c wheel bike allowed in a Cat5 Criterium?

I would like to try some Crits but I do not have a 700c bike. In an effort to save some money so my kids can go to University later in life, will I be able to ride a 650c bike in a Crit?

Yes.

.

Yes, but make sure you bring spare wheels and tag them with your race number. You won’t be able to take advantage of any neutral support (if the race offers such – usually the case when there’s a lot of wheels in the pit) as most wheels in there will be 700c.

which one are you planning to do - Tue (UBC) or thurs (richmond)?

oh and as far as I know - 650 ok

When I was 15 and racing Jr I thought about this and decided that I wouldn’t buy a 650 bike.

It took a few years to realize that this would never be a problem… ;-p

Hey you racing any crits or tt in the coming weeks? I am thinking of coming out to a Thurs nighter but need to check license issue.

BTW if you ever go to ride any Italian climbs take a triple with a 34 rear cog. Also I suggest doing a grand fondo one day - 4500 riders in two wave start, a real blast.

I’m currently in Alaska, so no - I won’t be out on Thursday. The leg is still messed but the back is starting to feel better, so there might be hope for this season yet.

I take it this little tour of yours has whipped you back into shape?

In shape - no but no harm going out to get in some fitness

Have fun on the cruise - did you do the pre-cruise weigh? LOL

LOL - I completely forgot about it until I was on the boat!

From 06:30 to 01:00, there is a HALF HOUR window during which one cannot be stuffing one’s face - and only on certain days! The rest of the time the feeding is continuous… I am truly impressed.
