I tried searching old threads to no avail. Can someone reply with the fastest IM time ever, who, where and splits, please?
Thanks

The top 25
Roth’s run course is rumored to be a K or two short. Seems like many pros have a career day there, including loping a few minutes off of their previous marathon best. The woman who won this year said something to the effect that she went 6 minutes under her IM run PR.
The men’s & women’s lists are very interesting. I can’t figure out if they all include transitions or not.
LVL’s #1 time appears to include transitions, but Peter Reids #3 time as shown actually totals up to only 7:49. Sounds like Peter’s time is faster to me.
Same for the women’s. PNF’s #1 splits add up close to the total, but Lori’s #2 time adds up to only 8:46… more than 5 minutes faster than the total. I don’t know the Austria course, but 5 minutes sounds like a long time for pro transition.
What’s up? Looks like Peter & Lori own the fastest times to me.
Must be some errors in the split?
I’ll have Nick Munting look into it.
Tihs could be the biggest scoop ever.

Must be some errors in the split? It depends on the timing company and the format it which they provide results. Some show T-times, some just S/B/R times for the sake of saving print space but do show it in the official results books. Don’t worry though…the transition times are still included in the overall time which explains why the total doesn’t always equal the sum. The clock starts at the beginning and doesn’t stop until the finish line is crossed and not for anything else like potty breaks or time penalties. Personally I prefer it when they show the transition times, shows a truer story of what went on on the course.
Francois - So, which is faster? Klagenfurt or Roth? Historically, Klagenfurt looked to be faster, but they changed the bike course a little this year and they lengthened the run.
Quote from Nick Munting
" believe from memory most of the Euro races time T1 and T2 as separate entities so if you add swim, bike and run together you should come up short of the race time for any given athlete…
Me> I believe in including the T1 and 2 times in the bike and keeping triathlon ‘that three part thing’ - not that five part thing… He He"
and this
“Further to the above Rob at XTri probably does what I do in such a case and uses the clean SBR time; and that will mean the overall total will appear wrong as it does include the T1 and T2 times - an if there’s a distance from swim to bike or bike to run the difference could appear dramatic,”
