Ironman world championship qualification (pro field)

I saw yesterday that the first cutoff for the pro fields for Hawaii is out. But could someone enlighten me on the process. I understand they don’t give all 50 slots/ 35 slots in the first round and that people have to confirm before 1x august so they can pass on spots to others, all good.

But when i go and look on the KPR page:

I wonder why some people have been offered spots and others haven’t. Seeing people like Andi bochere, Andy potts and around 3-4 others who have more points have not been awarded a spot (and yes they all have a qualifying race as well). What am i missing? Same goes for around 3 women? I can even see that someone that i follow on FB who posted they got in are listed as not Qualified. Is it just IM who forgot a few names?

The green “Q” comes up next to their name after they go through the registration process. So, those without a green Q haven’t done the online registration to confirm their slot. It doesn’t mean they haven’t been offered one.

They have to a certain date to complete the registration and then it rolls. I don’t know what the date is off the top of my head. It is in the rules somewhere though.

Ah okay! I read it as those with the q were the invited. So they do invite 50/35 and then when last reg date occurs they roll down slots?

they invite 40 males/28 females at the first cut off (July 30). These numbers DO NOT include Automatic Qualifiers (those that have won in the past 5 years) and regional championship winners.

Any 2017 Kona Race slots that are declined, unclaimed (as determined by IRONMAN in IRONMAN’s sole discretion), or withdrawn on or before August 19, 2017 (Eastern Standard Time) will roll down to next highest ranked Pro Athlete based on the July KPR.

Then they invite 10 men and 7 women after the August cut off (August 20).

The Kona registration cut off for everyone is September 1.

So usually, with AQs, you end up with approx 55 men and 42 women.
