While I was getting my credit card out of my wallet…Lake Placid Online Registration filled up…So now I am thinking of Ironman Wisconsion in 2008.
Will that sell out just as quick?(10 minutes)

Probably not as quite fast. Next year is the 10th running if IMUSA, so I think there were a lot of folks who wanted to be there for that race. But IM Wisconsin will fill up quickly…inside an hour more than likely.
Spot
Actually I may disagree with spot on this one. I see IMMooo closing even faster. Here’s why:
Closer proximity to more major metropolitan areas such as Chicago, Milwaukee, Minneapolis, Detroit, etc. The fervor surrounding Lake Placid closing so quickly will likely create a similar rush to register for IMMoo. Athletes already doing IMMooo 07 will have taken the hint from what happened at IMUSA online registration this year- they’ll register at the race in record numbers.
I’m standing in line.

Last year the event sold out online in 26 minutes…that was the official word from Mike Reilly at Active.com. Anyone who did not have their online registration completed (not started) in that span did not get in.
I would expect MOO to sell out even faster this year. That should come as no surprise, considerring the current trend and the continued reduction in online spots.
Seems like the hype is all about Placid, but year after year Moo sells out faster. I would expect no online registration for Moo, or Florida for that matter.
What Tom and GearGinder said…
If you REALLY want to do IM Wisconsin be there IN PERSON an hour or two before registration opens on-site. By all means, do not rely on Active.com!!!
I’m standing in line.
right now? already?
does registration open the day of the race? 9/7/07 ??
I agree with Tom on this that it will sell out quickly, under 20 mins. It addition to the reasons he list, IMW has established itself as an A+ venue with its great bike course and excellent host town. Anyone who has not been there should make put it on their list of ‘must do’ races!
Registration opens the day after the race.
Like others I think this will sell out just as fast if not faster then IMUSA. I have a freind not doing the race in 07 who is flying 800 miles to make sure he get into the race for 08.
Peace,
RF
Sound’s like it could be time for a Road Trip!
I will be in the Monday morning line as well.
I am also volunteering on race day and I encourage others to do the same. If anyone has ever done an IM, then you know how awesome the volunteers are and how big a role they play in making your day special. I did IMWI in 2006 and I’m excited to be giving back to the race. It should be fun and it might even give me some good karma for my return in 2008.

Lots of slots available. I will be doing bike handout from 7:30-9:30am, bike return from 2:30-5:30pm, and special needs from 5:30-9:30pm. That will give me time to go out to Verona for a while and watch the bikes, eat lunch, and thoroughly enjoy the day. I’m looking forward to it.
Best of luck to all.
mm
Could you detail the actual time for entry when present at the event vs on-line?
thanks
I suspect IMFL, which is not in close proximity to any major city, will sell out more quickly that IMW.
.
You might be right. I am guessing neither will have online registration. Funny thing is all the rave is about Placid, but last year Florida sold out faster than any of them IIRC. I am hoping to go back to Florida next year so I will be flying down to get a spot. SIGH
7AM would not be too early.
Look at it this way–peeps who raced day before can’t sleep anyway because they are so hungry, so they grab something and go get in line.
At IMLP, I got in line late–around 9AM–and I was near the back of the line.
If you want to get through the line quickly, then be there early.
Its really taken me all year to find out how lucky I was just to get in (no problems at all with Active, went right through). It would be nice to know what life has in store for 2008, but I think I’ll get the results from my school application the week after the race…
I have a robotic duplicate sitting in Monona Terrace right now ![]()

I’ve got one on the way. Battlebots!
