i don’t know the ironman wisconsin bike course at all, is the course marked well enough for me to ride it without having to rely on a cue sheet?
Most of the chalk is washed away…there are some painted markings though. I’d bring the map.
Here’s a cue sheet just in case. http://tri.robbyb.com/fullcourse.pdf
I’d bring a map - once you’ve been around it once or so it’s pretty straight forward.
I wonder what happened to the blue spray painted M-dot stencils on the road. They were great when riding the course when nobody else was out there…
I think they’ve mostly faded away. I’ve seen a couple but they aren’t at every turn.
MAP. 1 week ago you could barely see any markings at all, an occassionaly Blue M-Dot, but barely. Some of the roads have a “P” with an arrow, but some are not even pointing the correct way (I suspect they’re not even related to Ironman). Also keep in mind a couple of the roads don’t have road signs (County Road KP just before Boulder), and also the whole Old Saulk Pass and Timber Lane section might be a little confusing because right before the 2nd big hill, Old Saul;k turns right and turns into Timber Lane, and right after the hill, Old Saulk dog legs to the left and you stay straight on Timber Lane.
If you go on a weekend, there will be at least 100 riders on the course, so you won’t be lost for long. Just be mindful there are plenty of locals who like to ride parts of the course in reverse direction, and turn on other local roads so don’t just assume they’re doing the IM course.
