Quick question. Is it possible to get in a little swim time Friday and/or Saturday morning before IM Canada this year? I’d imagine so but haven’t seen any information on it.
thanks,

Public lakes. No problem at all…

Not sure if they’ll have the buoys up on Friday, but they will on Saturday. I did a full loop Saturday AM.
Great. I figured as much. Thanks a lot for the insight. Pretty pumped to swim in that beautiful lake. It will beat the hell out of the man made mud holes here in Oklahoma!
It’s a gorgeous swim. You can see at least 50 feet down and it is a perfect temp.
Speaking of the temperature, what is it? I’d imagine this warm weather has brought it up a bit since I visited last month.
And on that note, any problems with swimmer’s itch?

Absoutely. They probably wont put up the actual course buoys til fri / sat, but they have buoys out now that are 100m apart ( #7 or 8 is sunk though). Not sure the exact temp but it is very comfortable, not too hot, not too cold and it’s pretty clear. Took 4 swims there last week.

Not sure how hot it has gotten with the BC heat wave, but should I pack my swim skin in the event the swim is no wetsuit?

I am sure there is info on the exact temp of the lake but
I haven’t checked. All last week the air temp there was in the upper 80 ’ s to mid
90 ’ s (98 on the out and back in Pemby the day I rode it) but the lake still seemed quite comfortable in a wetsuit. It is going to be about 10-15 deg cooler here in Seattle area next week and about the same there so I don’t think the lake temp will shoot up that high. Having said that, how much extra room does you swimskin take up!!!. If the answer is more than a pair of underwear, I don’t think it’s legal… Have a great race. I know you loved Penticton, but I think you will find this race top notch!!

Well the good news is that just like my underwear, my swim skin is made of fabric…so I guess I will pack it and hope for a no wetsuit swim! Having said, that I should probably hope for a wetsuit swim. When the water is borderline I get close to hypothermic.
