Looks like everyone did their homework in the swim, gonna take a bit longer than the historical 500 break point. Looked like Kanute and Laidlow almost had a 3 man break, but when the groups came together someone did the hammer close up to them and brought just about the entire field behind them.
Think a 2nd group should be forming now, later a 3rd should pop off
I could see Lionels stroke at the very back of the big group when it was all together, so looks like he will be 2nd or 3rd pack depending on what happens in front of him. But for now he hasn’t lost much time, just. the time in line and that is a great thing for him

Yes Iden should be 2nd pack, but the thing I noticed is the leader(not sure who, anyone know?) is doing the Gary Hall breathing pattern. For the life of me I cannot understand why the entire field hasn’t adopted this. Next time they show them have a look, hard to tell unless you are looking for it…
I remember in the 2008 olympics where the lead swimmer used that pattern, so 16 years later it is still pretty much unknown… Like getting 10 free watts on the bike
