Ironman Texas Live Thread

I went to facebook to watch it and it links to a site that wants you to put in a credit card to “verify” yourself. Isn’t there a live stream that doesn’t require that?

On the Ironman website the link to the Facebook page takes you to the live stream - just worked for me.

Starky just moving into first, no surprise. We’ll see how the run goes.

Jeanni Seymour riding at 76 rpm. Muscling along and a flat and fast course. Makes my legs hurt just thinking about it.

Yeah, really low cadence. Also, why is the camera on here and not on Ryf and McCauley? Not sure why they think we’re interested in 3rd place…

Yeah… who knows… strange choice. 4th place now.

Nilsson hanging on to Starky, so far. Same on the female side, Morrison and McCauley riding faster than Ryf through 30k

How many pros can punch their ticket for Kona this race?

I wonder if it’s because Ryf is now riding up through some of the men’s pro field and they’re having trouble getting the cameras in there without interrupting the race.

Ryf and McCauley hit the second bike split at 1:44:23. Given that they started 5 minutes behind the men, they have now caught and ridden past the 26-30th place men.

The camera for Ryf has technical issues…or so they say…

Finally up on Ryf! McCauley hanging on tight. I wonder if Ryf starts to ride away around mile 60-70. It seems like that is often where she says see ya later to the competition. Good on McCauley for going for it on the bike

They just said on the broadcast that they expect the same…she will say bye-bye eventually.

lol look at the age group draft packs.

Fun race so far. Like the easy access coverage too. Honestly, this broadcast seems better than the Kona broadcast.

Major Cringe: “Mike Reilly is a big draw for these athletes.” Uh, no.

Thats not surprising there are only so many race marshals but I did see someone comment that they see blue cards being given out. Thats a good start but there are just too many people on the course to catch everyone.

I don’t fault the marshals or lack there of. I fault the dishonest racers.

Here are the splits at 2/3 of the bike done;

TOP 10 Pro Men - Thru Bike Split 5 - 83.08 mi

1 3:55:50 Andrew Starykowicz
2 4:02:27 6:38 Patrik Nilsson
3 4:10:02 14:13 David Plese
4 4:11:56 16:07 Will Clarke
5 4:12:54 17:04 Michael Weiss
6 4:12:57 17:07 Joe Skipper
7 4:13:34 17:44 Matt Hanson
8 4:13:36 17:46 Kyle Buckingham
9 4:13:37 17:47 Alexander Schilling

10 4:13:38 17:48 David Hanko

Looks like Starky will have his 20 minutes on that big 17 minute group, but Patrik is riding really strong. Looks like he wants this race today, gonna be really hard to catch him on the run, as long as he is able to run pace. Just don’t see anyone out of the chasers that beat him, unless he has a problem, which of course is always looming in ironman…

Is the live feed still going?

Do you think Nilsson is biking within his ability?

Do you think Nilsson is biking within his ability? //

Well, with all the gadgets and gizmos guys use these days, probably knows how hard he is riding. But really, the true test of pacing is coming up shortly, doesnt matter what numbers everyone hits… He is a great ironman racer, he has proven that over and over. Perhaps he has worked on his weakness and today is showing it…
