anyone know if they ever give ironman slots away at award ceromonies for 70.3 races ? specifically I am trying to find a way into ironman louisville. So far the only way to get a slot is to sign up with a personal trainer for a year. Way too expensive for me !!!
Yes there are. Go to the 70.3 websites to see which ones they are giving out.
Oceanside had an abundance of slots for fulls. Basically everyone who wanted one got one. Look into which ones they have for next year. It’s a great race too. I really enjoyed it this year!

The California 70.3 and the Florida 70.3 had slots to the other NA SPORTS races. None to Louisville, that I know of, which is a WTC race. And other races that, in the past, had IM slots (Gulf Coast, Buffalo Springs, Timberman?) did not have any IM slots.
I think the politics (WTC vs. NA Sports) is a little different now. So keep your eye out to see if Louisville slots would be handed out anywhere, though I wouldn’t necessarily look for them at an NA Sports race.
