San Diego, CA - January 26th, 2004 - It’s an event for the lion hearted. The ones who don’t need aid stations, cut off times and lots of hoopla. After all, it’s really just you and your crew out there following the steps of the legends of Ironman. Back on Oahu - where it all began in 1978 with 15 men on the beach of San Souci.

In case you haven’t heard, it’s back! On August 15th, 2004 Ironman Revisited will return to Oahu for its third year and the buzz is getting stronger. With a limit of 50 people accepted into the event, including 8 relay teams, an intimate, meaningful day is guaranteed. “This is how it all started 26 years ago,” said Ironman Hall of fame inductee Bob Babbitt. "Back then a lot of us were there just to see if it could be done. Our buddies got us through the day as our crew and that’s what made it so special. Done. That was it. “Ironman Revisited allows those who love the sport the opportunity to experience the simple pleasures of Ironman without the pressure. It’s also a major fundraiser for the Challenged Athletes Foundation,” says Ironman Revisited co-creator Rick Kozlowski.

Ironman Revisited is an Ironman distance event consisting of a 2.4-mile swim, 112-mile bike ride and a 26.2-mile run. It’s non-competitive and the course is not closed. However, it does serve as a fundraiser for the Challenged Athletes Foundation (CAF). In two years the event has raised over $125,000 for CAF. “These funds allow us to buy handcycles, race chairs, sports chairs, sports prosthetics and to help pay for competition and training expenses,” says Babbitt. “Our goal is to return independence to people with disabilities so they can live a full life,” said Babbitt.
