IRONMAN QT2 Mission Training Plan

Does anyne have experience in using the annual mission plan by QT2 systems.

I am a MOP and considering this plan for a full IM. It requires a 1 year commitment.

Thank you!

Yes. - I know. Is it worn it?

Why folks pay more for a semi customized plan with no direct coach interaction than a private coach is beyond me.

I’m a QT2 mission plan athlete and have been extremely satisfied with plan and interaction with coaches. Coaches designed program based on my needs ( available time) and have been extremely accessible to answer questions and make adjustments. Would highly recommend without hesitation

My wife used QT2 for this.

It’s not just a plan that is customized for each athlete but you have access through email and forum board to ask as many questions/advice/tips/support to coach.

It is a lot of volume FYI. It was worth it.

Nobody beats QT2. Check the results. I have been with them for 2 season and look forward to many more to come! If you’re not convinced, go watch IMLP sometime as they’ve been dominating it for years in the pro and AG race.

I was a QT2 Athlete and was very impressed with their program. Like several others mentioned, the coaches answer questions quickly and are responsive and flexible to any adjustments. I highly recommend QT2. They are consummate professionals and have a wealth of knowledge to share to get the most out of you.

Excellent plan, coaches, nutritional guidance. They really know their stuff.
I had a breakout year last year, at 53 years old and 10 years of triathlons. Won AG in Augusta and third at IMFL… two WC races this year with one season of their training and nutritional methodology speaks for itself.
Now… be ready for lots of work ! but its worth it

I’m a disciple! Done both mission plan and one-on-one with QT2 and would recommend it without hesitation to anyone that is serious about improving and committed to doing the work. Being comfortable with the cost is a personal thing.

How many hours does the plan typically call for in an average build week? 12-15? 15-17? 17+?

Just buy a set of power cranks .

Sounds like qt2 heard about this post and told their following to post up LOL. I have only heard good stuff but I have known a few who used it for a year then stopped. No ill will but no self coach. Take a look at kickerendurance, affordable and customizable

Ha! I must have missed the email or heads up you are referring to (because there was none). I have been both a 1-one-1 and mission athlete with QT2 and have learned a lot from their program. I have gone the self-coached route and other coaching that is less expensive prior to that and was not nearly as successful. Yes, they are not cheap, but if you clearly state a goal of race or races and give a good indication of where you are starting from and are willing to work hard, the mission plan and access to the coaching staff is a great value. And there are a number of other AG winners and KQs (unfortunately many of which are in my AG) as seen from prior posts who would agree with me.

They customize it to your experience/background so different for everyone.

“For these responses QT2 promised me a year supply of Beet Juice”

I’ve been on the mission plan 2 years now and made huge improvements. I’d recommend it, especially if you are focused on long term success.

I’m 44 and just finished my 6th year of triathlons. I’ve also used the QT2 mission and one on one coaching plans. I’m really into the numbers and technical side of the training, so I’m not a stranger to training properly for a race. During my 1st year with them I had a PR in every distance I raced. My half marathon on the same course dropped from 1:30:51 to 1:25:20 (this from a ‘non-runner’). My Half Ironman on the same course dropped from 4:51:12 to 4:39:12 and my Ironman dropped from 11:45:25 at Lake Placid to 10:27:29 at Mont Tremblant. If you can follow their plans properly (especially the nutrition and recovery), you will see some great results. It’s not cheap, but it’s worth it. Good luck.

i am a qt2 guy as well. this is my first year. here is my complete unbiased opinion.

  1. most people PR because they are training MORE and BETTER than they did their previous years. if you train more, you’ll go faster (for the most part).

  2. if you wanted to put in a good 40 hours to educate yourself i think you can create a plan that is roughly equal to 85-90% of what qt2 offers. with that said, how much is your time worth?

  3. i did a mission plan, i didn’t sign on for a year. i told them my training limitations and vacations that i had to go on (2 weddings out of the country) and they did their best to build a plan around that. i did not PR, in fact, i DNF’ed my first race under their plan. was it their fault? nope. it was mine. would i hesitate to sue qt2 again? not at all. will i? i’m not sure.

  4. the thing about qt2 plans is that they are most effective if you sign on for a long period. we’re not talking months, we’re talking years. follow their plan and you see big big gains in 2-3 years. i personally just cannot afford that. i like to race a lot (i did 13 races in 6 months in 2013) and the qt2 method is train more race less in a sense. (they also like spacing, i did 2 ironman, 4 half irons, ultra relay, regular relay, 2 olympics and a duathlon and more in that span).

if you’re training hard and in a rut i think they will give you the tools to get out of the rut. i didn’t get much from the forum / coach chats, but that’s because i jsut dont’ have a lot of questions. follow the plan and train. if you have to miss a workout do your best to make it up.
