I see that Marvel along with Paramount is making this movie and given that Marvel produced the comic book how strong would a WTC trademark (copyright?) challenge be? Didn’t WTC challenge one of the networks a few years back with a challenge to an “All Ironman” team? The deep pockets this time also are backed up by some Ironman history. I’d like to see this cage match happen.
errmm, i believe WTC pay Marvel licensing for the rights to use “Ironman”…Marvel own it ![]()
.
I’ve never heard that. If that is so can Marvel can shop the licensing to anyone while licensing to WTC?
Marvel and Paramount b!tch slapped Mdot ![]()
.
I asked the Aquaman Wetsuit guy at an expo about an copyright/trademark issues with the DC Comics super hero and he was ticked off that I mentioned it.
BUT the movie looks AWESOME! Robert Downey is going to be great as Tony Stark (the guy who wears the Ironman armor).
The earlier rough trailer that Paramount showed at some Comic Book conventions was really cool – they even used the Black Sabbath song. You may be able to find that trailer on Youtube, but it keeps getting pulled off the site because that trailer wasn’t intended for wide distribution.
Here’s something else about copyright. DC and Marvel Comics co-own the term “Super Hero” if you want to create a new super hero, you have to refer to it as an “Action Hero” or something like that.
I wonder if the Ultraman event promoters have a similar problem:

.
hmmm… and Rockman is the original name for the Megaman videogame, and does Sarah Silverman know that her last name is being used to promote a triathlon. It goes on and on.
You have made me very happy by posting that.
I watched a couple of episodes of Ultraman a few months ago.
A buddy downloaded the whole series on bit torrent.
Everyone in the room was surprised that I could sing along to the theme song word for word
I hadn’t seen the show in 30 years or so.
Back in the early 90’s there was a shop in Exposition Park in Dallas that sold Japanese toys. I still have every Ultraman action figure they sold NIB stuffed in a crate somewhere. I have some imported Ultraman Laser Discs (!) stuffed away somewhere as well.
