Alright, it may be cheesy, and it may not pass the Gopha’s style test, but the wife has told me that as a birthday present she wants to frame a bunch of stuff from my recently completed ironman race (my first). It will go in our home office which is currently dominated by her awards. Has anyone done something similar that would care to share what they did as an “example”? She was thinking including a race poster, medal, swim cap, number, etc. and anything similar she may have kept. Any advice or photos are greatly appreciated.
My wife did the same thing for me on my birthday. I really like it mostly because she spent a lot of time doing something nice for me and supporting me in my ‘hobby’. The medals and all that stuff don’t mean nearly as much. Other than that, who cares if other people think it is cheesy? Unless they’ve completed a similar feat comparable to an IM, I don’t think they have much room for criticism.
The one my wife made for me is in a shadow box. She pinned medals, bib #'s, and pictures of me and friends from races. It is really, really nice.
At least you’ll be hanging something with meaning on your wall, rather than a $4 picasso print purchased from the local poster shop, like a lot of people.
