Can any KY locals shed some light on the Ironman Louisville Run course? I’ve heard the run is totally flat and I know the finish is at 4th Street Live which should be packed. I looked at the parkway on google earth and it seemed very “industrial”.
My post in another thread:
"The run is all flat, and should be very shady for the most part. There will be some areas of no shade, but for the most part you are running through Old Louisville, which is an historic district full of Victorian homes and old shade trees lining the street. Check out this for details and pics at the bottom: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Old_Louisville "
Great Thanks!
Very flat and very nice run course. You will be faster coming back in to town though. There’s a minimal, minimal grade. Not industrial at all. Goes by the Cardinals ball fields, Church hill downs. If I had to choose a marathon to run this one would be as good as you could get. I ran the entire course Sunday. I ran a 1:10 on the course from the transition to the Cut Across Road (probably 1.5 -1.75 additional miles). The turn-a-round is before you get to Cut Across Road. And I ran a :50 back in to town. FWIW.
