Would you like to place a little bet on the outcome of tomorrow’s Ironman World Championship?
For a number of years now, a group of Canadian’s have gathered at Laverne’s( formerly Lulus) in Kona, on Friday night, to put a little wager in, and been part of the Canadian Ironman Hawaii Pool.
The founders of this fun event are Canadian, but you don’t have to be Canadian to play!
We plan on gathering at Laverne’s at 6:30pm tonight to have a few beers, talk shop, place our bets($10). Anyone and everyone is welcome.
The format in the past has been pick your top-5 men and women ( points are assigned based on how many of the top five you get right), and then there is typically a tie breaking question ( men’s winning race time) if for some reason there is a tie.
Further update and Rules of the Pool from WriterGuy aka Clint Lien:
So the pool will go tonight at 6:30 sharp at Laverne’s (formally Lulu’s).
Buy in: $10
Winner takes all.
Top 5 men and women. 1 point for picking a top 5 finisher and 1 point for getting exact location.
We will also have a bonus - DARK HORSE PICK. If your Dark Horse pick comes in the top 10 you get 1 point. If they come in the top 5 you get 2 points!!
Rules for Dark Horse pick:
Common Sense and the will of the majority - in the past we’ve had no issues with this. The bottom line is, you can’t pick anyone who the majority feel can’t be considered dark horses. ie: Caroline Steffen or Sebastian Keinle, etc.
Pass this one to anyone you think might enjoy a little gambling.
See you there!
