Wonder why there’s no audio or video feed ???
Apparently there’s been a serious crash out on the bike course.
It’s probably a motorcycle crash or something, because why would a bike crash take out the audio?
It shows Francois coming out of the water in 54:54 in 12th place.
Anyone wanna draft?

Is there a video feed? I can’t find it.
that is another Francois
the Francois posting here was in place 68 in 1:01, but his bad luck seemed to continue, because he hasn’t finished the bike course yet (after 8 hours race time)
There is no video feed for this race, only races in the USA and New Zealand provide this feature (don’t know for sure if Ironman germany has a video feed)
.
Duh! Oops. ![]()
Thanks for the info and too bad about his race :-\
I wonder if the run was short? Lots of guys under 2:50.
Looks like the accident out on the bike course was involved with an athlete after all…This is posted on the updates board… What a shame, my heartfelt condolences to the athletes family and friends…
It’s been a sad day in Gerardmer…
As those who have been with us through the day are aware, we had the race marred by a serious accident today that has sadly claimed the life of 47 year old Belgium athlete, Alain Paquo.
Alain set out this morning to qualify for Hawaii, but lost his life on the first lap of the bike leg in a tragic single cycle accident.
He was declared deceased at the scene of the accident. There is as yet no information as to what the cause of the accident may have been nor the cause of death.
The greater Ironman family extends to Alain’s family, and his triathlon club friends competing with him, our greatest sympathies and sorrow at this time of such great loss.

Death at an IM is extremely rare but it does happen. The only ones that come to me right off the top are:
IM California - guy on a bike died on the downhill in the Marine Corp base 2002?
IM Utah - guy died on the swim during the storm 2002?
There may be others that I just can’t remember right now.
Very unfortunate. Perry Rendina was the fellow you’re thinking of, 2001.
