Having only done Ironmen in the states and Brazil, I was curious about the transitions at Ironman Austria. Does anyone know if they use the bag system like the North American events or if you set up transition next to your bike, similar to your local sprint race?

As I remember from the 2003 race, they use separate bags for T1 and T2, both mounted with either side of a large ‘coat’ rack for want of a better description. The transition areas are very close to the exit from the canal with change tents close by and the exit is only a couple of hundred metres or less. very well organised and quick
I’m pretty sure they’ve been using the bag system for a number of years now. Nothing on or around the bike.
They were using bags hung on hooks on A frames in 2000, the same as Bish experienced in 2003 so I doubt they have changed. As one would expect from the Austrians, it was very efficient.
