Ironman Australia Questions for Becca's Fan Club and Others

Anyone have some advice on:

What to do before the race in Forster? (non-training related)

Tire selection and air pressure? Are the roads similar to the chip seal at IM New Zealand? Friends who did the race 3 years ago said that the road conditions were pretty bad.

What to do after the race in Sydney? (definitely not training related)

By the way Becca, feel free to post a picture with you and a koala bear here if you’d like.

No idea about Forster. I’m not that fit!

As for Sydney, well you can climb the Harbour Bridge (http://www.bridgeclimb.com.au/ - book well in advance if you’re interested), visit the Opera House, take a cruise around the stunning harbour, go for a surf at one of the Northern Beaches.

As for nightlife, there’s plenty of good restaurants & bars. The Rocks is really nice, but pricey. King’s Cross is a bit seedy, but there are good bars and lods of strip joints. If clubbing is your thing, then Home down in Darling Harbour, or maybe Tank, off George St. are options.

Here’s two sites with more info:

re: the race itself, hop on to http://forums.transitions.org.au/

There’s a gang of Aussie triathletes who hang out there and are going to IMA, so they should be able to help you out a little.

Thanks for the info! Yeah, I’ve been visiting that forum, it’s quite entertaining. Looking forward to going down under!
