Does anyone know when entries for Ironman Antwerp usually open? And anyone who’s done it before, how did you find it?

Not done it but some mates have. Doesn’t sell out so you can sign up as late as you want. Or well yeah I guess they increase the cost but you don’t necessarily have to be an early bird. I think there were about 1100 participants this year.
As far as experience from what they told me the bike was rather boring (through the dockyards) but the run was nice - downtown. Good organization.

Brief translation: WTC wanted to take over the organization completely, but the current organizer (Golazo) refused, so they will no longer carry the Ironman label next year. Instead they will organize a big triathlon weekend with several races, including an oly and a half, targetting 10K participants on the long run (like the similar big event in London).
My experience with the 2011 race: too expensive, and the ugliest bike course ever seen (3x up and down the Scheldelaan). Would never do it again even though it’s a “home race” for me. But I may reconsider if they change the bike course for next year.
