Ironman...Alaska?

Travel logistics is what would worry me. Juneau is not exactly a hub. Lodging: does Juneau have hotels and AIRBNB for around 45k people? (Assuming 1500 athletes with two family members, not counting IM staff themselves)? Do we get bear spray at the run special needs station? And of course, the classic IM question, will the swim be wetsuit legal?

It looks like they have 7-8 small hotels. They should park a few cruise ships in the harbor and let people rent rooms on them.

It’s actually a pretty good idea.

Or market the race as part of an Alaskan cruise. One of the port calls would be two days in Juneau for the race. An IM is tough because of the logistics (people would probably want to be on-site for a full day before the race), but imagine how excited your wife/GF would be if you took them on a one week Alaska cruise and the ship spends one night in Juneau and you race in the morning and then back underway. Seems like it would be fun.
