Who’s doing this?
I’ll be there ,physically racing.
But the real HIM distance race in the region IS NOT Singapore 70.3.
Desaru , Malaysia HIM …18/08 ( next weekend ) is the real deal . 2 km swim , 90 km bike( of 2 x 45km on rolling hills ) , then 21.1km run on rolling hills and minimal shade… That is a race.
Singapore 70.3…Swim with wave starts , 4 laps on a 22.5km course with 1200 athletes ( do the math ).
Considering the transition area is the same field that was a mudbath 2 weekends ago ( for the Osim Singapore Triathlon, Asian Cup Series ), hopefully I don’t have to add that to my list of things "to do " on the day.
Hopefully there are real marshalls to penalize drafting , cause 1200 athletes in 22.5km’s makes IM Florida look like cycling in northern Canada.
Glad this event is held , but IMO if proper road closures and logistics cannot be in place , the safety of the athlete is compromised. This is by no means a jab at the organisers , as they have done what they can , with what they have.
Hope I am wrong.
Sounds like you must have been frustrated by the NUS Triathlon last year? (=
I’m hoping that it’s well organised this year… particularly with the ironman brand name. I’m a little sketchy on the “hands on brakes, no overtaking” down the Benjamin Sheares bridge; don’t like the thought of being slowed down by some people who are non-competitive and braking all the way down, and not being allowed to pass them.
There are lots a nd lots of finer points that I really hope do not come to fruition.
It’s all fair enough to have a WTC race , but not on effectively, an “ITU” course.
My dad tought me something many years ago…If your not going to do something properly , don’t do it at all.
Hi Guys,
I’m not racing on that day(lack of fitness), but i’ll be there as a volunteer!
And i agree about the drafting issues, there’ll be tons of em. We just gotta hope that the competitors have some sense of integrity themselves.
But i think this race will be rather well conducted, and its really a big issue here in Singapore.
Plus, T2 is the floating platform at Marina Bay! That’s really big by the way.
Also, the race goes through most of the CBD areas, so it should be quite nice.
Enjoy the race guys!
T2 on that platform ( provided we don’t get rain ) will be great !
I heard T2 was undercover ?
Oh bummer, i must have gotten it wrong. It’s beside the floating platform under tents.
But everyone will get to be on the floating platform after the race though.
Here’s the official race route:

Race Route
Should still be fun though!
Hoping to be there - I work for the sponsor and am hoping they can get a team of my UK counterparts (Inc me obviously) out to race a team of my colleagues from Singapore.
Fingers crossed but it’s a long way from the UK!
I’m in! I’ve developed some tendonitis in the achilles but will be there to give it my best shot. The swim and bike should be fine. The run may turn into a walk/jog.
I’m looking forward to exploring the city.
Best of luck to all.
Terry T1 is in carpark F2. Pure granite transition area so no mud for us.
Anyway i feel that a crowded technical bike course is an apt qualifier for an even more crowded and “technical” world champs.

Ok , well that is a plus , no doubt !
Personally I’d have no interest in attending IM70.3 World Championships anyway ![]()
Thanks Derek !
I’m in for this too. This will be my second tri and I’m flying in from Japan so I’m looking forward to it.
Best of luck to everyone,
