I think that this is a great day for the people of Iraq, and something that a lot of folks have been waiting a long time to watch him recieve.
That said; I think that it is only a matter of time before the Liberal policy makers in Washington cry foul over the way in which Iraq is going to execute Saddam and his goons. I don’t think anyone ever contemplated the way that the people of Iraq will seal his fate. It will be a sad day when we see the same people who pushed to have the people of Iraq try Saddam cry foul at the way in which they choose to kill him.
I would pay to watch Saddam get executed. Seeing that Marine in Baghdad put the flag over his statue and than pull the statue down wasn’t enough for me. Watching him get pulled out of that nasty hole in the ground he called home for weeks, only to get ratted out by his own people, wasn’t enough for me either. Even seeing the pictures of his dead sons, for which he is to blame, wasn’t enough for me. After seeing the atrocities he foisted upon his own people and the people of Kuwait, this is long overdue, as far as I’m concerned.
Let’s face it, none of us cared about Saddam until the administration made him a focal point on the “war on terror”. This verdict (is it really a surprise) is going to be the rallying point for justifying the war in Iraq. Over 100 dead Americans in October 2006 justifies Saddam’s verdict or our involvement in Iraq. I think not.
‘none of us cared about Saddam until the administration made him a focal point on the “war on terror”.’
He was the focal point of my entire military career in the 90’s. He has been discussed non stop since 1991. Do you have your own thoughts on anything or are you just the sheep you appear to be. Baaaa out what ever your party says and hope you college buddies think your deep.
Your military career revolved around Saddam? And you talked about him non stop since 1991? That just seems wrong. Anyway, you are the exception. The American public didn’t care about him after the Gulf War. They don’t care about him know, because he impacts us how?
How young are you? I’m not kidding. What is your age? Do you even know about the Northern and Southern No Fly Zones? Saddams build ups on the Saudi border? The UN sanctions? The hunt for WMDs? You have to be under 25 and never have been in the military.
I didn’t build my career around him. He was Public Enemy #1 against the US. I didn’t choose my enemies. Now you are saying that this whole Saddam thing is for the 2006 elections?
I have no problems with a death sentence for Saddam, I have a problem believing that will cause the rebuilding of Iraq to finally begin. I also have a prblem with using 3000 American lives, 20000 American casuilties, and 300,000 dead Iraqis to get there. Saddam reminds me of how badly we’ve screwed up in the Middle East.
Yup you sure do have some nagging problems. Hopefully people with problems like you don’t end up stopping what needs to be done and making a big problem for everyone else.
