Iran nukes

Other than world condemnation, is there a negative in launching a strike against Iran.

Why would you launch a strike against Iran? What have they done against the U.S?

Are they more of a threat than Pakistan or North Korea and if not, why not strike those countries?

Striking one doesn’t preclude striking others.

Iran has probably directly and indirectly through its sponsorship of terrorism killed many US servicemen and women in Iraq. Their drive for nukes is a destabilizing force in the mid east

Iran could launch nuclear weapons against someone else in retaliation, probably Israel (assuming they actually have any nuclear weapons to use). Every Muslim in the world (plus a large number of non Muslims) would be radicalised against the USA due to the killing of innocents in Iran. Do you think this would make US troops any safer in Iraq or any other country around the world?

What right does the USA have to attack Iran with nuclear weapons?

What makes you think anyone would use nukes against Iran? The thought process behind striking Iran is to prevent Iran from having the nuclear option as that government has proven that it does not use restraint inside or outside their borders.

Lets not forget the lessons of Iraq since we were wrongly told that they also had WMD’s.

Iran hasn’t done anything yet. In fact they don’t actually even have nukes yet, just the capacity to build them. If they strike first then then its an issue. Until then any strike would be an act of aggression, not defense.

ya, let’s all forget the rantings of Hitler and let the Iranian lunatic do whatever he wants to do and then think of some kind of lame ass after the fact response…rigghhhht!

If you were to investigate politics in Iran you’d learn “the lunatic” has very little actual power. Also, to this point he has DONE nothing, but spout off in a manner similar to American Radio Talking Heads.

Lets not forget the lessons of Iraq since we were wrongly told that they also had WMD’s.

Memory is bit foggy on this but weren’t we the ones who told us that they had WMDs? And then used our ‘intel’ to convice the rest of the world?

1984: West German intelligence sources say Iran’s production of a bomb “is entering its final stages.”

1992: Israeli parliamentarian Benjamin Netanyahu tells his colleagues that Iran is 3 to 5 years from being able to produce a nuclear weapon. Foreign Minister Shimon Peres tells French TV that Iran was set to have nuclear warheads by 1999.

1995: New York Times reports US and Israeli concerns that ”Iran is much closer to producing nuclear weapons than previously thought” – about five years away.

1998: New York Times reports that long-range missile development indicates that “Iran is bent on acquiring nuclear weapons.” Former Defense Secretary Donald Rumsfeld reports to Congress that Iran could build an intercontinental ballistic missile – one that could hit the US – within five years. The CIA gave a timeframe of 12 years.

2002: CIA warns that the danger from nuclear-tipped missiles from Iran is higher than during the Cold War. Dubious claims from the MeK (now widely believed to be passed on by Israeli intelligence) say that Iran has undisclosed uranium enrichment facilities in breach of IAEA safeguards.

2004: Secretary of State Colin Powell claims Iran is working on technology to fit a nuclear warhead onto a missile. “We are talking about information that says they not only have missiles but information that suggests they are working hard about how to put the two together,” he said.

2005: U.S. presents 1,000 pages documentation allegedly retrieved from a computer laptop in Iran, which detail high-explosives testing and a nuclear-capable missile warhead.

2006: New Yorker’s Seymour Hersh quotes US sources saying that a preemptive strike on Iran is all but inevitable.

2007: Bush and Cheney imply an impending attack on Iran if it doesn’t give up it’s nuclear program. A month later, the National Intelligence Estimate (NIE) on Iran is released, which controversially judges with “high confidence” that Iran had given up its nuclear weapons effort in fall 2003.

Then for the next few years we have the hawkish officialdom lay off on claiming Iran is on the verge of nuclear weapons capability. But the threats of attack do not stop. Now, in November 2011, the IAEA reports that Iran has coordinated weapons-related research and development for years (continuously since 2003) and may still be doing so now (although only circumstantial evidence is offered).

Yes, let’s wait until he does something. Then we can get mad. No references to Chamberlain are to be inferred.

I wonder why Israel is being so quiet about this. They usually dont hesitate to take out any threats.

Except for when they can bait their dupes into doing their dirty work.

They haven’t been quiet about it.

I predict Israel will strike Iran in the near future and may God help us deal with the world consequences.

Facts dont work with those types. Its been tried.

They havent been quiet at all.

“let the Iranian lunatic do whatever he wants to do and then think of some kind of lame ass after the fact response.”

So you’re saying we should just go in now and nuke Iran? I’m sure glad you’re not in the white house.

I don’t support such a strike on Iran but why do you and others believe they would strike with Nukes?

“In 1981, Israel stunned the world with an airstrike on an unfinished nuclear reactor in Iraq that destroyed Saddam Hussein’s nuclear program. Israeli warplanes also destroyed a site in Syria in 2007 that the U.N. nuclear watchdog deemed to be a secretly built nuclear reactor, though Israel never acknowledged responsibility for the attack.”

read again and don’t infer that I said nukes should be used dipwad!
