Iran and Iraq are now allies

Why is it that Iraq is not so threatened by Iran? Maybe Iran is not a threat?

Even our own ally, Iraq, is condeming our actions in the region. Go figure.

BAGHDAD — The presidents of Iran and Iraq today harshly condemned an Iranian opposition group here which has ties to U.S. neoconservatives and remains under the shelter of American forces.

The armed opposition group, which sometimes goes by the abbreviations MKO, MEK or PMOI, fought the Iranian government during the 1980s, when it received shelter from Saddam Hussein…

…as tensions between the U.S. and Iran have mounted, some in Washington have cultivated ties with the group and advocated using them to destabilize the Tehran government. Numbering up to 3,000, they remain under U.S. guard at their former base northeast of Baghdad.

Of course that is the way you skew it. You should personally go visit Tehran, make it clear while you’re there how much of a flaming liberal you are, then report back to us the ground truth.

Iran and Iraq finally have one enemy in common, and apperantly it is a US backed terrorist group.

Casey did report from there just a few months ago. Did you read his posts?

Of course he didn’t read my posts or if he did, would just dismiss it as liberal ranting.

Having biked across the U.S and Europe prior to hitting Iran, I was struck by the overwhelming kindness and generosity of the people, far more so than anything we had seen to date. We still write to one family who stopped their car as we were biking and offered us some food and water (we had this happen at least 2-3 times/day). The couple pulled out a picnic basket and he left in his car shortly after, returning a half hour later with enough food for a week. We ended up staying at their home and all their friends/family came by and started arguing over where we could stay next. He took a few days off work and acted as our tour guide.

When we left, they called ahead to the next few towns and had people waiting for us and we ended up at their homes. I think we stayed in a half dozen homes in Iran just through this one family we met.

Don’t worry though, as we were wined and dined and showered with attention, I kept up the Americn spirit and repeated over and over, these people are my enemies.

Don’t you know the Ayatollah’s are building nuclear bombs in their basements so they can dominate the world?

Wow, I really like the pink. Never used it before.

Coool !

I am glad you enjoyed your trip. May I asked which cities/areas you visited ?

Maybe they also figure a President Clinton or a President Obama will abandon them to the predations of their neighbors and are trying to do what they need to do in order to survive. Not surprising, considering all the blather from Obama and Hillary about pulling up stakes, surrendering, and getting the hell out of Iraq. It just confirms that the Dems aren’t serious about either foreign policy or national security.

T.

Thats a real stretch dude.

if one goes to Hillary’s and Obama’s websites - and also reads the fine print of their positions, neither one plans on pulling out of Iraq anytime soon - and they both have bombing Iran and Pakistan on the table.

So where it really counts, they both line up with Bush - - it’s OK to break and violate international law and norms.

…surrendering…

What is there to surrender? didn’t we already win the war? No, really, seriously?
