Hey,
I’m thinking of treating myself to an Ipod Video (already have a Nano and love it).
Can I “rip” DVD’s that I already own to get the movies on there or do I have to buy them from Itunes?
How much space does the average movie take up?
Thanks

You will need to buy a program or use Handbrake and DVD43 a copy remover if you want to do it free and the movs take up abotu a gig at full qual bc i put them back to a tv but about 600 if less qual. I have carmichael spinervals on mine and that is pretty sweet. I am not a tech guy and even worked at best buy and used my CRAZY disciunt only on rechargeable batteries and ipod accesories bc the video is so sweet.
Yes, I “ripped” DVDs (and other digital movies - like homemade videos) using MediaFork. For me, it took a while but got GREAT results! You can choose 1-pass or 2-pass encoding, which is “good quality” or ‘excellent quality’… you can get away with ‘good quality’ which takes only 1/2 the time to rip.
make sure you get the instructions - they tell you how to set the encoding and the size.
You are looking at a few gig per movie - depends on the movie and the quality you rip at.
If you are willing to wait a few months the new iPod is going to be pretty sweet.
Think iPhone…but iPod
