So my Sansa Clip has mysteriously died after about a year of (mostly) daily running, and I’ve got one of the new 4th gen iPod Nanos to replace it.
Any recommendations on a sport armband for running? I checked the archives, but most point to expired links or are for previous nano versions.
Googling around, the best options seem to be the Griffin or Belkin armbands. My wife has a DLO jacket for her nano, and I loved that for the Clip, but it just seems like it’s going to bounce around way too much.
Good time to get used to running without the damned thing. Take the buds out of your ears and listen to the world. Run with people and enjoy conversation. Run off-road and listen to the sounds.
I don’t understand the arm-band thing for mp3 players.
Your underarms are one of the sweatiest places when you run, yet you want to put some material/nylon/velcro thing up there to soak up the sweat.
I truly doubt those arm bands are washed as much as your clothes, yet they have to be the stinkiest thing in your gym bag.
just do not put it in the the pocket in your shorts…I have lost 2 nano’s due to “water intrusion.” Keep all liquid away from the headset plug. just an fyi. I now put it in my amphipod pouch that fits on the back of my shorts. I use this to carry my gels as well. It sits in the small of your back and does not bounce at all.
bag the nano
get a shuffle. I dunno about the new ones- but the last generation I currently have was 50$ - where an armband will set you back 20-30. It weighs nothing, clips to my shorts, the headphones it comes with are shorter than normal, so theres not alot of slack bouncing around, and i dont even notice that I have it on.
That being said- I only run wiht it on the treadmill. Outside I just dont like it- I second the “train like you race” idea. Treadmills are one thing, but if you’re outside- enjoy it.
I went with the Nike+ and it seems really good so far. Best Buy actually had a guy working that section who ran with one, and let me take it out of the box to check it out.
It can pinch a little on on my less-than-chiseled arm, but good motivation to get my upper body more toned.
Next time you are replacing your arm band, replace your ipod instead. Go with the shuffle which can clip onto your shirt, hat, shorts, whatever. I had a nano and an arm band and resisted the change to the shuffle because I didn’t want to change. But I was persuaded to change and wow is it great. No arm band at all. Just the shuffle and the headphones. And the $50 cost of the shuffle means that if it breaks, which all ipods eventually do on the run, the replacement cost is $50.
