Yep, I got one. Got the 6, not the Plus. Nope, I did not wait in line. I do not understand that. Came right to my door. Silver, 64GB. Love the feel. Love the looks. Just started playing with it.
I did not get the 5s (or 5c), so I expect I will notice a bit more of a difference in terms of performance.

Mine is on the delivery truck right now. This is the first time I have ever preordered. Normally I just go to the Verizon/ATT store and get it there. I was in and out in under an hour with my 5. I can’t wait for it to get here. I got the 64gb silver 6 also.
The Wife is getting the 6 (non-plus sized). It’ll be arriving on our door step within an hour or 2. She ruined her 5 about 2 weeks ago. She needs her phone for her techie job so she replaced her damaged 5 with a new 5. Now that she’s ordered the 6, I will be given her semi-used 5, and my 4 will become the emergency phone (in case she damages her 6 and needs something for her job). I am mostly a slave in this process, accepting whatever it is that she gives me. They are all more than capable of doing anything I need them to do (which is almost nothing).
Local news media is camped in front of the Apple store today. Huge lines. People waiting for the last couple days. A few showed up this morning, pre-dawn, and were in and out in 5-6 hours (yes, hours) after the store opened. Apple store is passing out bottled water and snacks.
I don’t get it. Why??? I had mine, in hand, before most of these people without waiting in any damn line.

I don’t get why anyone would line up outside of a store for any reason. The Black Friday crowds leave me shaking my head every single year. In the case of the iPhone, the Wife ordered it online. Maybe these liners are that extroverted or simply looking to be extras in the next Hitchcock movie.

Yeah, I agree. I did that once (Black Friday), many years ago, when I needed to buy 3 laptops. But, now, you can get the deals online, so, no real need to go to Black Friday sales in stores.
Regarding the iPhone, I am fairly certain that, in the past, the pre-ordered online phones arrived a week after the in-store release. So, I can see the obsessive people trying to justify standing in line. But, like I said, today, I had phone in hand before many of the people who waiting in line.

I just got back from lunch and went past a Verizon store and decided to go in and see if they had any iPhones. Went in and they had phones still. They said you could have gotten in and out in under 30 minutes all day. Anyone that waits in lines at the Apple store is crazy.

I wonder if sales are going to be less than predicted or if stock for stores was higher than normal? What city are you in?

I live in Louisville KY, but when the 5 came out I was in Chicago and I waited for an hour at the Verizon store.
The pre sale of the iPhone broke records so I would think that store sales will do pretty good also.

When were/ are the iPhones first available in stores? The Wife gets her’s today via the internet.

Today. For the iPhone 6, the online pre-ordered arrived today, the same day they went on sale in the stores.
I am fairly certainly that for the 4s and the 5, the online pre-orders arrived a week after the stores started selling them.
My 4s is konking out just at the right time. Got the 6 ordered.
I am waiting for your review…I have a 4 held together by duct tape. I am also a cheapskate, so the idea of going on another two year contract makes me want to vomit.
I have a 4s that is doing a few wonky things also. In addition, I feel that a change of carriers is in order so I can actually use my phone at home…
Is the 6 worth it over the 5s? Waiting to hear some reviews now that average Joe consumer has it in their hands. I want to know if I can handle the larger form factor as a trade off for some cool upgrade the 6 brings over the 5 series. Otherwise I will just get a 5s.
I have been playing with my 6 and the wifie’s 5c and a co-worker’s 5s. Right out of the box, the 6 does not seem big at all. I thought it would feel huge. Not at all. It is much lighter than the 5 and thinner. It has a curved case, not sharp like the 5s. The 6 actually is more enjoyable to hold. It feels better. Man, does it feel light.
The screen resolution kicks the ever loving shit out of the 4s. It is like going from a black and white tv to a 4k HD. Much, much faster than the 4s. Side-by-side, quite noticeably faster than the 5c and a little noticeably faster than the 5s. But, let’s be honest here – the 5s and 5c are not slow.
Still playing with it, but, first impressions:
From 4s to 6, it is a “holy shit!” upgrade.
From 5 to 6, it is a very noticeable upgrade and, IMO, worth it, due to performance and form (see below).
From 5c to 6, you can see it side-by-side performance-wise. But, they have to be side-by-side. Form-wise, I like the 6 a lot. Lighter, bigger, thinner.
From 5s to 6, you really have to squint to see even side-by-side performance upgrade. Form-wise, see, above, I like it a lot over the 5s.
I did not want a bigger iPhone. I did not think I would like a bigger iPhone. So far, I really like it.
