iPhone... (1)

I actually listened to a whole radio show on NPR about the iPhone the other day. All I can say is that the Mac cult is depleting the national Kool-Aid supply.

I heard on NPR this morning that places in line for the iPhone are going for $500-600. One guy in San Fran who didnt have the money to buy the phone was in first in line. He was going to sell his spot and use the cash to get his phone. I wonder how much you can get for them on ebay…

My company won’t let us sync them with our corporate email since there is not yet any remote delete feature in case it gets stolen… :frowning: But, it would totally make sense down the road if we are able to use them for work… Otherwise, I can already foresee people asking me to send files to their personal email accounts when they are out of the office.

After a few kinks get worked out, I think this will really help a lot of people in my industry cope with the gap that exists between the physical and virtual world.

Yeah, if they find a way to synch wth MS Server, they won’t be able to keep this phone on the shelf for a full year. There are rumors that Apple is in discussions to license Active Sync from MS, but nothing confirmed yet. Apple claims that you can get your corporate e-mail by allowing IMAP on a Windows Server, but there are a lot of downsides to that, and it’s not as good as a full synch. I’m a big mac fan and I’ll probably get an iPhone someday, but for now I’m sticking with my Treo.

We got an email today about the limited ability to get your work email and not being able to synch to the server. They were hopeful that in a year things would be different.

Synching might not be the only problem. It’s a multimedia machine, not an email machine.

This was a great review of the iPhone on BoingBoing, including that it meets or exceeds the hype, plus explains some of the drawbacks people have been wary about.
