Arn’t you on a 4 year waiting list for a frame ???
I have a Fortframes.com uno steel fixed
$1800 for a frame is steep man
Dirt
You’re a bike “John”, aren’t you?
Don’t let Sacha catch you looking at other guy’s frames! He might finish with you before he puts out and delivers the goods!
Screw it, get this lugged frame instead:
he is fishing for a Christmass gift from you ![]()
Dirt.
Were I in the market for a frame… it would still be too big for me.
Khai buys his own toys, that way he gets what he wants.
;-).
There is something strangly, sexy and attractive about the basic clean lines of a well made steel bike kitted out with high-end components, compared to all the wild, swoopy-doopy lines on all the high-end carbon bikes these days. My guess is that within a few years, steel will be back in fashion and the outrageous carbon bikes of today will have gone the way of the big finned Caddy’s and other cars from the 1950’s.
We can “leave” the “outrageous carbon bikes” right where they are, it makes owning steel bikes even more satisfying and keeps the undesirables out! ![]()
you are to late am in !!!
Happy Christmass Thom
It’s actually a 27 month waitlist… (Jonny’s is ~15). Not that I’m about to order one or anything…
yet
n+1 isn’t playing nicely with the logistics of objects in 3 dimensional space…
I’m going to need help from Francois to figure this one out.
Are those race bikes, commuting, ?
He’ll make anything - track, crit, stage race, touring, commute… The only limitation I can think of would be if you wanted a really steep TT frame - he might not be able to get lugs to suit those angles.
When I had my Yaqui built, I originally wanted Ves to build it out of lugged 853 - but was told that the lugs won’t accomodate the angles I needed (DE geometry). That’s how I ended up with a Scandium bike.
What’s DE geometry, Bud?

Give me vintage lugged
.
DAMN, that’s a beauty! I’ve always liked Colnagos…
A buddy of mine is selling his Master Light - lucky for me it’s WAY too big. ![]()
Ves offers “DL” geometry (Draft Legal) and “DE” Geometry. DE is Dan Empfield geometry, and references a specific set of parameters that Dan experimented with, to great success. He used to have an article here on it “An experiment in geometry” but I looked for it and it’s done gone disappeared. Anyway, Ves sells a lot of DE bikes nowdays, as the handling is so damn good. I love my DE geom Ocotillo + C!
Ah, I see. Check out the ebay Colnago thread I started, you’ll love that one!
