I’m just really curious - how much time do y’all spend on the net through the course of the day (or during work) reading boards like this, GordoWorld, etc. I find myself spending wayyyyyyy toooooooo much time reading this stuff - but it is addicting.
Anyone have any stories about co-workers being fired over internet usage?
Yeah. I spend a lot of time on here. Need to cut down… but I just look forward to reading Tibbsy’s posts too much.
I had a colleague fired over internet usage… although his wasn’t excessive usage, it was the nature of the usage. Something about downloading pictures of underage kids doing things kids shouldn’t be doing.

I usually hop on the ST forum whenever I hit a roadblock in my work that makes me sit back and think for a minute (roughly every half hour).
I’ve read most sites I’ve found enough (slowtwitch main, xtri, TNO, bikesport, trifuel, etc) so that there’s not much new content. Never tried GordoWorld though. I guess my productivity will be a little down for the back half of this week…
I’m on the boards/e-mail a couple (ok maybe 10) times during my workday.
True story about an ex-VP of Finance: evidently he was surfing porn sites way too much and had been told to keep it in check on the company computers. He was in on a Sunday doing some “work”. Disaster struck. He had been printing out porn on the company laser printer and had got it jammed and couldn’t get it unstuck. Fearing discovery on Monday morning, he paged a Tech to come in to help. The tech came in OT on a Sunday and unjammed the printer. He was gone about 2 weeks after that. This same VP was evidently very religious and told people about it and had a hot daughter who worked at Hooters!

I’m not psychologically ready to face the internet/work issue yet. The whole internet porn at work thing has always baffled me. What are these people thinking?
No worries, I’m only on here while at I’m work. I wouldn’t dare allow the internet to interfere with something important…like training!
