Internal cable routing help!

I am trying to route my cables inside my aerobars and need help on where to drill the holes. I have two choices and need or would like some advice on where to drill them to avoid compromising the integrity of the bars. Let me know, choice #1- the underside of the extensions…http://i199.photobucket.com/albums/aa319/runpuddrun/IMG_0505-new.jpg
or choice #2http://i199.photobucket.com/albums/aa319/runpuddrun/IMG_0501-new.jpg

please?

2 but i don’t hold my self liable if it breaks.

I would go for 1. Most of your weight rests on the elbowpads and hence region 2 will be more stressed and possibly subject to failure than region 1.

Which is more important to you: 1) the structural integrity of your handlebars, which if compromised can result in your doing a face plant at 25mph, or 2) the .01 seconds per mile you might save over taping them to the bottom of your extensions?

They are already routed up top, so it basically NEEDS to be done.

I’m confused. Are you saying that the aerobars you purchased NEED to be drilled? There is no way to route the cables externally?

well, it was kind of a joke, but it was a PITA to get the top in and now there is no where for them to go but out the side of the bars. They have to go somewhere, and as they stand now, it’s not going to work… http://i199.photobucket.com/albums/aa319/runpuddrun/IMG_0500.jpg

any other thoughtful opinions?
