I saw a relay team at the Hyannis Marathon today that had the following on their singlets - “If running were easy, it would be called your mom”. Not the type of thing you’d expect to see during a race, I don’t know if they were trying to be funny but it just seemed out of place.

Funny? Yes, it is hilarious. But it is also a bit out of place. I do wish that someone would wear that at one of my races.
I don’t understand why this is out of place? Is humor only allowed in certain places?
I get that it’s a little risque but it’s nowhere near as bad as some of the crap that we are subjected to on a daily basis.

Your right. With everything else that is shown on tv and radio these days, it is definitely more tame than that subject matter. So, it was my original reaction to post a that it was a bit out of place and so that is what I posted. But after thinking about it I don’t really think it was. I am sure some will still think that it is and I can certainly see that point. There were probably some parents at the race that had to explain to their kids what that phrase means.
The Regina rowing club used to have shirts that said “Regina rowing club… 'cause Regina rhymes with fun”
Go to any high school xc meet and you will see at least half the girls teams with that slogan on the back of their sweatshirts.
I would be surprised if there were kids that haven’t heard a “your mom” at some point. It’s used so much that it has no meaning anymore and sounds more ridiculous than it does insulting. But then…I think it has always sounded more ridiculous than insulting haha
