Interesting sighting on our morning ride: New Hummer H3 prototype

Don’t know about the plastic parts. I’ve wondered that one myself. I guess if they start warping or cracking I’ll have to get them replaced. The Chevy Avalanches have been on the road now for a couple of years, and I don’t see funny things happening to the plastic parts on those trucks. I guess time will tell.

So how does everybody know I have a small penis? I don’t even drive an H2!

I’m 6’2", and I ride a 59cm bike. I don’t think my seat is set really high (short-ish legs, long-ish torso), but I don’t have to alter the seat height to roll it in the Element. The seat does hit the roof at the very rear of the car, but tilting the bike a bit fixes that. When it’s inside, it has plenty of clearance. Just rolls on in.

so why are civillians actually driving those huge things? is it really necessary? I don’t see any machine guns on the top!!! why drive around in a gas guzzling huge stupid thing like that anyway?

It’s all about image: what people who drive them think that people who see them drive think about them. Go figure.

Man, that thing has been around. I think it was in my shop a while ago, we were poking around at it.

jaretj

and you don’t think triathletes are like that with their bikes?

Well, yes.

This is swerving off topic, but the reason I am not a Kerry fan is he says ridiculous things like “Health care is a right.”

Health care is not a right. It is a luxury you can purchase if you can afford it. Welcome to America. So is safety and security. If you work hard, earn a good wage, you can afford it. If not, you probably will not be able to.

Capatalism. Welcome to America. That is the way it is.

People who say things like “Health care is a right.” make me laugh. Where the hell is that in the Bill of Rights?

That was my point. People buy large vehicles to feel safe (whether they actually are, can be debated). They don’t take anyone else into consideration.

I’m with you on this. Those crash test Volvo commercials also seem to suggest, “Look at the damage the other vehicle sustains in a collision compared to the Volvo…”

OK, so let’s assume health care is a right. But you can’t access health care without transportation, so then transportation must be a right as well, correct? Well, you can be expected to rely on public transportation in an emergency, so you need a vehicle.

Government provided H2s! Now we’re talking!

My point is that I think it is irresponsible to let a 20 yr. old kid drive a gigantic tank with my kids inside. It just inherently seems like a bad idea. But then that is why I don’t pay a 20 yr. old to take care of my kid – I do it myself.

Perhaps a car that was easier for a 20 year old woman (who has had a license for 4 yrs. or less) to handle would have been more a more appropriate choice. Either way, she clearly was responsible and if I was the employer I would certainly think twice about who I was letting raise my children. The nanny already had a poor driving history, so why was she driving someone’s kids around, regardless of the car she was driving!?

So the point is, she should have been driving something smaller, so the kids in her vehicle would have been killed, instead of the one in the Suburban.

Here’s my ride. 2000 rounds per minute will make sure my kids are safe so f*** your kids. (/sarcasm)

I have worked on this gun though, and it’s pretty impressive to see fire. (For those of you who read the “age” thread - it’s an internship)

Well, anyway. This morning when we were riding our bikes, we saw this cool car.

That was all.

Ever thought about therapy to find and treat the cost of your self hatered? You seem to allow what others do to affect how you feel about them personally. You may hate someone for what they drive and wear because you are covering a deeper peoblem within.

LOL!!! meow, Mr. Tibbs, you always make me laugh. I wasn’t literal when I said, if you drive a shinny hummer I hate you. sure, imo it’s obnoxious, but I’m not hatin’ on anybody for it–after all, such huge purchases do alot for the economy–everything from the manufacturer to the maintenance. And, it’s normal to determine how to feel about a person by what they do and also by who they are. and alot of times people are who they are by what they do, and vice versa. think about that for a minute.

Perhaps Mr Tibbs you were projecting your own self hatred on me–perhaps it’s you who has this problem

Just as long as you didn’t see any cool bikes that cost enough to feed a small country. What a waste! Nobody should have one of those!

"Perhaps Mr Tibbs you were projecting your own self hatred on me–perhaps it’s you who has this problem  "

Darlin’ read my posts my self hatered know no bounds or limits.

that’s what I was hoping you would say! I confess, I have self hatred! I was hoping you do too so that we could run away together!

I’m a good cook, and I don’t talk back too much. I promise to make it worth your time!

Pick you up at 9?

That is very true and is what drives me nuts. Because its like someone with an ugly hat that they think is cool, you keep looking at it trying to think why someone would be so stupid to drive or wear something like that and they think you are staring becuase you think it is so cool.

If they only knew!

Hummers (the new ones) are too big to be a really good choice for most offroading other than fireroads and the like. Most of the trails you see around here would be too narrow for a hummer and I would hate to winch that hunk of steel. I certainly wouldn’t want to do the rubicon trail in a hummer. I do think it was funny that I see hundreds of hummers here in San Diego where you don’t need one, but I only saw 1 or 2 in Alaska where you would think they would be great. On the other hand you do see a lot of jeeps and other, shorter wheel base, off roaders. Silverardos were also everywhere :p, probably shuttling around the dogslead teams!

Da bum

It’s hard to debate auto aesthetics, but I can tell you that the virtues of practicality and functionality are out the door of an H2. In the first 1,100 miles of mixed city and freeway driving the average milage was 10.9 miles per gallon. And you will be using premium fuel.

Not a chance in the world that your Yaqui will be riding inside without subtantial disassembly. Just a bit tighter than a Yukon and the spare rides inside.

On the plus side, the ride is amazingly smooth and the mapping feature is kinda cool, in a big brother can always find you sorta way.

And everyone wants to take a look at it. Again, sorta fun on a Saturday night out and about town adventure.
