Integrity and Safety Question

Is it ok to lift the circular shaft out of the aero seat post on my Cervelo so I can put a Profile Design aqua rack on my bike?

Or is placing the weight of my body on top of the Profile Design clasp too much?

I can’t picture what you are describing, I apologize, but I am concerned about this. Can you describe it differently?

Assumptions:
1.) Normally the circular portion of the seat tube (attached to the saddle and seen in the picture) lies inside the aero shaped seat tube on a Cervelo bike and is secured in place by a screw in the back of the top of the aero shaped tube.

2.) I want to raise the saddle portion and lower the aero shaped tube. This keeps my effective saddle height the same.

3.) Since I now have the circular portion exposed, I am hopig to install the Profile Design aqua rack (http://www.profile-design.com/product_pages/hydration/hydro_aquarack.html) by placing on the circular portion of the seat tube, again, coming out of the top of the aero shaped portion.

4.) Since I am allowing just enough circular portion to be exposed to fit the rack, I am concerned my body weight will crush the aqua rack clasp and my seat tube’s integrity will collapse.

I suppose my concern should be with the screw that holds the circular portion in place, and not the strength of the aqua rack. Because my weight will be supported by this screw, and not the aqua rack.

So I suppose I just answered my own question. But has anyone every done this before?

Also, rest assured I would trial this on the trainer for hours before taking it to the streets.

The profile design clasp likely won’t fit the super narrow round diameter of the cervelo head.

And what you are proposing is not safe, as the cervelo head needs to be all the way in, flush, with aero shaft to support your weight.

If you want bottles behind the seat, go for a holder that clamps on the seat’s seat rails.

like the one Minoura makes. it’s cheap and works great.

Thanks. Good advice
